WiiWare News USA:NINTENDO LAUNCHES WIIWARE: AN OPEN PLAYGROUND FOR CREATIVITY

Nintendo has some WiiWare news and here is some of it: "Nintendo's Wii™ console has already changed the way people play games. Now its new WiiWare™ service decisively tears down limitations for how developers create games - and the way people receive them.Starting today, Wii owners with an Internet connection can download new, creative games from a wide range of developers, from large publishers to indie shops. By reducing the barriers that make console game development prohibitively expensive, WiiWare showcases original ideas in the most democratic environment in industry history, connecting the people who make games more directly with the people who play them.WiiWare frees developers from the traditional constraints of video game development. WiiWare lets developers experiment with big ideas and small budgets to the benefit of players everywhere. Newer, smaller teams now have an outlet for their creative ideas. The constantly growing WiiWare library will have a regular flow of unique video gaming experiences consumers might not otherwise have access to."WiiWare is to the video game industry what independent films are to Hollywood," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "WiiWare lets developers experiment with new ideas and experiences. Combined with our collection of classic Virtual Console games, Wii provides one-stop shopping for the greatest games of the past - and the future."
VC News USA:WII-KLY UPDATE: TWO NEW CLASSIC GAMES ADDED TO WII SHOP CHANNEL

Nintendo has some Virtual Console news and here is some of it: "Which is more important: brains or brawn? Before you answer, check out this week's awesome additions to the Wii™ Shop Channel, which give you ample opportunity to flex both. One game features frantic puzzle action with a Pokémon® twist, while the other invites players to brawl and battle in the name of justice. If you're anxious to test your mental mettle or your action-adventure muscle, these classic titles are just the ticket.Nintendo adds new games to the Wii Shop Channel at 9 a.m. Pacific time every Monday. Wii™ owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points™ to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week's new games are: Pokémon Puzzle League (Nintendo 64®, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone, 1,000 Wii Points): Get ready for a new kind of Pokémon battle where the power and speed of your brain are just as important as the strength of your Pokémon. Join Ash, Brock, Misty and many more characters from the Pokémon animated series as they gather in Puzzle Village to compete for the title of Pokémon Puzzle Master. Just match three or more blocks of the same color in any direction. Sounds simple, right? But the actual game play is surprisingly addictive and deep (chains and combos anyone?), especially when you're facing off against a human opponent. Choose from six different modes offering a wide range of action, from story or puzzle modes to continuous play or timed play. If that's not enough, take on the challenge in 3-D and get ready for more blocks than ever before. Featuring animated cut scenes combined with bright, fun graphics, there's enough to satisfy any fan of Pokémon or puzzle games." If i had to recommand a VC Game this week it would be the one listed on the site right now in Pokemon Puzzle League. You can read the rest of this from Nintendo's Press Room above.

News USA:BUCKLE UP! MARIO KART WII PUTS EVERYONE IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT

Nintendo has some Mario Kart Wii news and here is some of it: "Since the invention of the automobile, kids have pantomimed driving with pretend steering wheels. Since the dawn of the video game age, people of all ages playing racing games have twisted and turned their controllers to steer their vehicles, even though it had no effect on the action on the screen. Now, Mario Kart® Wii makes these fantasies a reality and brings a new level of immersion and interaction to video games. The raucous driving game, which launched Sunday, comes packaged with the Wii Wheel™ steering wheel accessory that houses the Wii Remote™ controller and lets players steer just as though they were driving a real car. The accessory has been specifically designed and engineered so that even someone who has never played a video game before can pick up the Wii Wheel and start racing instantly.“Just like Wii Sports, Mario Kart Wii will have everyone in the household playing together, laughing and having fun,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “With the Wii Wheel and ability to race with Mii caricatures, Mario Kart Wii literally puts players directly into the game.”While newcomers will find it easy to hop into a race, Mario Kart Wii holds plenty of challenges to keep veterans busy. Mario Kart Wii features 16 new tracks, as well as 16 retro tracks from previous Mario Kart games. Dozens of characters from the Mushroom Kingdom are present, and each has his or her own collection of customized vehicles to race."
Preview:Mario Kart Wii Hands-on

IGN has gone Hands on with Mario Kart Wii and here is some of it: "Ever since Nintendo created the franchise for the Super Nintendo back in 1992, nearly every succeeding Nintendo video game system – with the exception of maybe the Virtual Boy and Game Boy Color, natch – has had a version of the go-kart racing game. This spring, nearly a year and a half since the system's debut, Nintendo will release Mario Kart Wii, the first motion-sensing rendition of the racer. In anticipation of Game Developers Conference this week, the company invited us to Nintendo's Redwood City office to check out the game in action and see just what's in store for Wii owners that are itching to zoom around with Mario and crew."
News:NINTENDO ASKS U.S. TO ADDRESS VIDEO GAME PIRACY PROBLEMS WORLDWIDE

Nintendo has some VG Piracy news and here is some of it: "REDMOND, Wash., Feb. 14, 2008 - Nintendo of America Inc. has asked the U.S. Trade Representative to encourage specific governments around the world to take a more aggressive stance to combat piracy of Nintendo video games and systems. Nintendo filed its comments under a "Special 301" process, in which the U.S. Trade Representative solicits input from the public to underscore specific areas of concern. While China remains the primary source of manufacturing pirated Nintendo DS™ and Wii™ games, Korea has emerged as the leader in distributing illegal game files via the Internet. Despite aggressive anti-piracy actions taken by Nintendo, Brazil and Mexico remain saturated with counterfeit Nintendo software. Meanwhile, Paraguay and Hong Kong continue to serve as major transshipment points for global distribution of illegal goods."The unprecedented momentum enjoyed by Nintendo DS and Wii makes Nintendo an attractive target for counterfeiters," said Jodi Daugherty, Nintendo of America's senior director of anti-piracy. "We estimate that in 2007, Nintendo, together with its publishers and developers, suffered nearly $975 million USD worldwide in lost sales as a result of piracy. Nintendo will continue to work with governments around the world to aggressively curtail this illegal activity." You can read the rest of this from Nintendo's Press Room above.

Nintendo has some Virtual Console news and here is some of it: "The two games joining the lineup this week are considered cult classics, yet they deal with topics as varied as farm management and shooting enemies to the strains of heavy-metal tunes. Just don't get the two mixed up, since most livestock don't like heavy metal and it takes more than turnips to defeat fire-spewing sea serpents.Nintendo adds new games to the Wii™ Shop Channel at 9 a.m. Pacific time every Monday. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points™ to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week's new games are: Harvest Moon® (Super NES®, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone, 800 Wii Points): You bought the farm, so now it's time to roll up your sleeves and try living off the fat of the land. Fresh air and the beauty of the outdoors will be fulfilling, but a successful farm needs a lot of working capital as well. There are buildings on your property, but they are in need of livestock. You have a modest house, but if things get lonely in the field, it's going to take a remodel to woo a female farming companion. Your challenge is to dig in and build your life as a farmer from the ground up. How you manage will determine the outcome, but remember: You always reap what you sow."
Editorial:GameSpot's Sad State of Affairs

1-Up has an editorial about GameSpot's Sad State of Affairs and here is some of it: "If you ask me, the biggest news from the videogame world in 2007 wasn't about a game or a game maker -- it had to do with a certain game reviewer, and an opinion that got him fired from his job. By now, most everyone's heard about Jeff Gerstmann, the Editorial Director of GameSpot who got canned for his review of the game Kane and Lynch (and I mean everyone -- this story got reported on all over the web). And whether his firing was purely for this review or also for others that preceded it, Kane and Lynch was certainly the straw that broke the camel's back -- and it was this censorship of criticism that caused such an uproar in our and so many other circles around the web. But I don't mean to dredge up the Gerstmann incident again for the sake of it -- believe me, there's plenty to read on the subject out there if you're interested -- I do because of the events of this past week. For those of you who may have missed them, longtime (as in 8 years) GameSpot reviewer Frank Provo and GameSpot Reviews Editor Alex Navarro both quit from the site. Provo, who had written nearly 800 reviews for GameSpot, told its audience that he could no longer work for a publication that softened its scores to appease advertisers. "I won't lie to people and tell them a game is good when it isn't," he wrote in his goodbye note to the site. Navarro also admitted he left in the wake of the Gerstmann incident, saying to joystiq, "It's a crying shame that things went down the way they did...sometimes you just realize a place isn't for you anymore." Navarro had no other job lined up when he quit.I've refrained from posting anything about the whole Gerstmann incident since it happened in the hopes that CNET/GameSpot management would just come clean on the matter and reinstill some faith amongst its users and the rest of the industry. But several weeks have now gone by with nothing of the sort. Both attempts by management, first in a generic statement and then in a disappointing FAQ of sorts did done nothing to restore any semblance of credibility for the once great gaming resource. In fact, these just seemed to irk readers further. Most importantly, though, these statements apparently did little to restore faith with the GameSpot staff, who have largely lived in a state of uncertainty since it all went down. It's why we saw the departures of last week. It's also why, according to Provo, we'll likely see more in the weeks/months to come."
VC News USA:WII-KLY UPDATE: TWO NEW CLASSIC GAMES ADDED TO WII SHOP CHANNEL

Nintendo has some Virtual Console news and here is some of it: "Let's take a quick personality test. Are you the type of person who likes to solve problems by analyzing clues, collecting information and methodically reaching your goal? Or are you more the type to thrust a double-footed kick into someone's face and follow it with a few body blows? Your answers to those questions should help you decide which popular game to choose this week.Nintendo adds new games to the Wii™ Shop Channel at 9 a.m. Pacific time every Monday. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points™ to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week's new games are: ADVENTURES OF LOLO 2 (NES®, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone, 500 Wii Points): Lolo and Lala are back in this sequel to the popular puzzle game THE ADVENTURES OF LOLO. On their return from the Haunted Castle, the Great Devil kidnaps Lala and challenges Lolo to rescue her again. Now he must take on the challenge of the Great Devil's Tower and Castle mazes. Fortunately, Lala was able to analyze each of the mazes as she was taken to the tower and left clues in the Jewel Boxes in each room. Each Jewel that Lolo collects contains information that will help him in the next room. In order to succeed, he'll also have to push tiles, pick up Heart Framers, temporarily turn enemies into Eggs with his Magic Shots and ward off enemy attacks by moving Emerald Framers. With your help, Lolo and Lala will work together to escape the Great Devil's clutches and defeat him." You can read the rest of this from Nintendo's Press Room above.

Rumor:RUMOR - Nintendo punishes Japanes retailers that cut price of Super Mario Galaxy

Go Nintendo has a Super Mario Galaxy Retail Price cut rumor and here is some of it: "Watching the sales of Super Mario Galaxy in Japan has been quiet an entertaining event. When the game first hit, it was met with pretty lackluster sales. It was somewhere around 300,000 for the first week if I remember correctly. Soon thereafter, the game took a big nosedive, and just wasn’t selling well. It laid low for a little bit until Wii Fit dropped. Once that game bum-rushed the top of the charts, it brought Super Mario Galaxy along for the ride. Now Galaxy has been hanging in the top ten, so much so that the initial shipments have sold out. That would explain the title’s drop to 11th place as of yesterday. With many retailers considering Galaxy a failure, they started to drop the price just a few weeks after the game’s launch. Little did they know that Wii Fit and positive word of mouth would rejuvenate sales. Now these retailers are sold out of Wii Fit, Galaxy, and many other Nintendo titles."
News:INDEPENDENT DATA REVEALS NINTENDO SALES FOR 2007

Nintendo has some Sales Data that some people may have missed if their Internet was messed up last night and here is some of it: "Nintendo DS and Wii Finish as the No. 1 and No. 2 Best-Selling U.S. Systems. REDMOND, Wash., Jan. 17, 2008 – Nintendo DS™ and Wii™ finished strong in 2007, commanding sales in the holiday shopping period and finishing the year as the two best-selling video game systems in the United States, according to new data just released by the independent NPD Group. Nintendo DS was the top-selling U.S. system of 2007, with nearly 8.5 million sold, including more than 4 million in November and December alone. Wii placed second, with nearly 6.3 million sold through the year, more than 2.3 million of which sold in the final two months. "By the end of 2007 we were sold out of virtually all hardware, and much of our stock of software and accessories was sold out as well, thanks to the broad appeal of Wii and Nintendo DS to core gamers, women, families, grandparents – and seemingly everyone in between,"said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of sales and marketing. "And that momentum continues here in the early weeks of 2008." Some additional facts about Nintendo's 2007 performance in the United States (note: All figures are from NPD): Nintendo accounted for 52 percent of all video game hardware systems sold in 2007 – more than all other manufacturers combined."
News:STRONG LINEUP OF GAMES CONTINUES NINTENDO'S MOMENTUM IN 2008

Nintendo has some Release Date news and here is some of it: "REDMOND, Wash., Jan. 16, 2008 – With their focus on fun for everyone, Nintendo's Wii™ and Nintendo DS™ systems are leading a new movement in the world of video games. Games based on brain exercises. … New experiences that surprise even core gamers. … Grandparents buying video game systems – for themselves! Surely, these are unprecedented times. "The video game industry has never had so many new players, and they've never had so much fun," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of sales and marketing. "Our momentum is not limited to one system or one game. We're going broad and bold in 2008, with something for every member of the family." Nintendo DS and Wii finished as the No. 1 and No. 2 best-selling systems of the year, respectively. Nintendo continues its momentum into 2008 with a strong lineup of games. In the first half of 2008 alone, more than 65 new Wii games will add to the current library of more than 195 and 80 new Nintendo DS games will add to the current library of nearly 500. Nintendo DS opens the first half of the year with games that demonstrate the breadth of the Nintendo DS library. Advance Wars®: Days of Ruin is a treat aimed squarely at core gamers, while Crosswords DS™ is for all consumers, whether they currently play games or not. Likewise, the first half of 2008 brings a diverse array of Wii games from Nintendo, including core games like Super Smash Bros.® Brawl; games with universal appeal for gamers old and new with Mario Kart® Wii, which uses the easy-to-pick-up Wii Wheel™; and Wii Fit™, which comes with the Wii Balance Board and has appeal for new consumers well beyond the traditional video game audience. On top of all that, new downloadable WiiWare™ games will make their debut. These unique games have much lower entry barriers for developers and let consumers enjoy an incredibly diverse selection of content."
Fan News:Evidence WHY Nsider is coming back, Prepare to be blown away

Well WWA of Nsider RP Committee has some strong Evidence as to why Nsider is coming back and here is some of it: "Dear Sir,
...Are you saying that Nintendo Power was wrong and that the forums AREN'T
coming back? Or, just that you don't know what they're going to do with the
forums? If it's the second, that's alright because we understand that such
things must be considered carefully.~_^ We don't necessarily expect you to
keep everything the way it was. We sent our request because that's what we'd
like to see or not see come back regardless of what other changes your
company deems fit to make. ^_^Thanks for forwarding my e-mail! Sincerely,
~WWA
P.S. Could I have contact information for your sources please? Thanks And he sent this: E-mail: I received this reply: Hello,
>
> Thanks for writing back. We truly appreciate your interest and support of
> the forums. There are no plans for the forums to return. They are closed
> indefinitely. You are more than welcome to continue checking
> www.nintendo.com for product information and announcements.
>
> Sincerely,
>
> Nintendo of America Inc.
> Lauren Taylor So I sent this response:Dear Madam, I do not understand. ?_? I called to confirm the information given me in
Nintendo Power, and was told that the Nintendo forums were being re-done,
and that they were going to return, though the time was not known. The
gentlemen who e-mailed me before wrote and said that the return of the
forums is uncertain. Then, I receive your e-mail that says the forums are
not coming back. So, is there someone, like a hire-up, that I could contact,
who could give me the right story? I mean, I've called Nintendo at least a
dozen times and I have received a different story just about every time. It
would be great if I could find someone who could give me answers. My friends
have called and received similar and just as inconclusive results. I even
have the phone number of a Nintendo personnel in NY, but he won't call me
back and I've left 2 messages on his machine. So, if you could put me in
touch with someone who can tell me the answers I'd really, really appreciate
it. Infact, the entire Nintendo Nsider Community would appreciate it. Thanks
again for your patience in dealing with little 'ole me.Sincerely, ~WWA (While I was waiting for a response I called Nintendo. The dude at Nintendo told me that the forums are comming back!! XD I also acquired a phone number to the Nintendo HQ in NY. Shortly after I acquired it, and left several messages, their phone number wnet out of service.) This is the response to what I sent: Hi WWA, I'm not sure at what point the magazine might have said the forums were returning, but I can assure you that the forums, as they were, are gone. All of this is contained in NOA Andy's message that you can still read at forums.nintendo.com. There reall is no further information than what he stated there.Nintendo of America Inc.
NOA Mac.It holds hope and promise and further clarifies the situation we are in!^_^ So I sent this response: Dear Sir,
Ah, now I understand!^_^ Thank you so much!^_^ It makes everything so much
less confusing!^_^ I am so glad they will be coming back, even if they won't
be the same as they were before. (Though that logically stands to
conclusion.) Is there anything about the update that you can tell me
aside from the fact that it will change the forums? Thank you so much. My
comrades and I are very happy. XD
Sincerely,
~WWA.So wecannow officially spread it tothe four winds that Nsider is indeed returning. XD.The return of Nsider was also stated in Nintendo powers volumes 222, and 223 by Chris SL.
~ZELDAMQGC2" So you know Zeldamqgc2 is my Nsider/Tech Support Forums name at Nintendo.com and You all know i listed what Chris SL said in Vol 222.So once we hear more about this from Chris SL i will update about this and share it else where too. Also if you feel the need to agree with this then contact WWA and tell her that you are adding your source for any Nsider news you may have and if it's important she will add it.

VC News:WII-KLY UPDATE: THREE NEW CLASSIC GAMES ADDED TO WII SHOP CHANNEL

Nintendo has some Virtual Console news and here is some of it: "December 31, 2007 - What are you doing New Year's Eve? Thanks to the Wii™ Shop Channel, you've got some outrageous new options. This week's classic game additions offer brilliant fantasy and crackling action to help you ring in '08. So if you haven't made any New Year's resolutions yet, allow us to suggest a few: pop more bubbles, battle more medieval beasts and try to save the universe a little more often.Three new classic games go live at 9 a.m. Pacific time. Nintendo adds new games to the Wii Shop Channel every Monday. Wii™ owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points™ to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week's new games are:BUBBLE BOBBLE® (NES®, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone, 500 Wii Points): BUBBLE BOBBLE's release in 1986 introduced the two bubble dragons, Bub and Bob, and brand new play mechanics, with players defeating enemies by trapping them in bubbles and then popping them. Although the puzzle-action game can be beaten by clearing all 100 rounds, it also contains secret elements such as not being able to get the "true ending" in single-player mode; hidden commands that lead to secret rounds; and a ton of different items. These elements are some of the game's most memorable and important features. Each round even has different air currents that are not visible, so bubbles rise in unpredictable patterns. Aspects like forcing players to understand and utilize these different patterns while playing help make this a revolutionary game that is fun to play anytime."
VC News USA:WII-KLY UPDATE: THREE NEW CLASSIC GAMES ADDED TO WII SHOP CHANNEL

Nintendo has some Virtual Console news and here is some of it: "If you hear a rumbling on the roof tonight, don't assume that it's reindeer when there are gorillas on the loose. Yes, this week's merry Wii™ Shop Channel lineup includes a classic adventure title to entertain every reveler in your household, from the nicest to the naughtiest. Plus, you'll find a wicked-cool dose of ice hockey action and a thrilling secret-agent sequel to help keep spirits bright all winter long. You were expecting lumps of coal? Sorry-maybe next year.Three new classic games go live at 9 a.m. Pacific time. Nintendo adds new games to the Wii Shop Channel every Monday. Wii™ owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points™ to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week's new games are:" I am going to do something that i don't normally do and show the game i like from these 3: "Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble™ (Super NES®, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone, 800 Wii Points): Revisit Donkey Kong Island and join the Kong family for their latest adventure. The Kremlings have a mysterious new leader named KAOS and are up to their usual mischief, even capturing Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong. Now it's up to Dixie Kong and the newest Kong, a giant infant named Kiddy, to rescue the two missing apes. They'll travel across previously unseen parts of the island in their search, and even take to the skies in a rocket at one point. Lucky for them, Dixie and Kiddy's powers complement each other (including Kiddy's talent for rolling like a barrel), so they form a powerful team capable of major Kremling damage. They're not completely on their own, either, since returning favorites like Funky Kong and Enguarde the swordfish provide help along the way. And in a series known for its abundance of secrets and high replay value, this entry doesn't disappoint, with enough hours of game play to satisfy Donkey Kong himself. Anyone else have a sudden urge for some bananas?" You can see the other 2 Games from Nintendo's Press Room above.

Editorial:Editorial: Wii Are Out of Space

IGN has an editorial about the Wii's System Memory useage and here is some of it: "A few days ago, Nintendo kindly gifted me a copy of the Virtual Console N64 title, Pokemon Snap, using Wii's new gift system. Eager to try out Snap's additional Wii functionality – you can take photos and send them to friends over the Wii Message Board -- I booted up my console and clicked on the gift mailing, which intuitively launched the Wii Shop Channel and took me to the Pokemon Snap download page. I tried to download the game and encountered an all-too-common occurrence on my system as it exists today: I couldn't, for the simple reason that I'm out of memory. There was never a lot to go around, but what was there is all used up, and these days every new download must come at the expense of another."
IGN has some more Wii news and here is some of it: "The Nintendo Wii is currently the only gaming system unable to give players the ability to voice chat over the internet. Though a few games have been released on the Wii featuring online play, none allow players to converse through them. It's a frustrating limitation.During a question and answer session in a Nintendo conference call this morning, Reggie Fils-Aime addressed this issue.According to Fils-Aime, the system is clearly capable of this function, and Nintendo is constantly adding and tweaking features of the Wii system through system updates. The issue boils down to locking down the specific technologies and getting the specific peripheral to allow voice chatting." can read the rest of this from IGN above.

News:A Very Smart Kart

In Nintendo Power Vol 223 Scott P talks about things he saw while playing Mario Kart Wii and here is the most wanted stuff from Page 31 of his article: "Remember the 360 degree that one of the Karts pull off? You'll get a Sweet Reward for doing that.As for the return of Kart must-haves, expect 16 brand-new courses and lots of familiar race locations based on tracks from throughout the series, enhanced with new features, of course, and boasting much greater visual detail than in any previous Kart title. You'll sample this eye candy in the character animations and track elements such as rushing water or exploding fireballs. As for items, expect some big newbies along with the tried- and-true Koopa Shells, bananas, lightning bolts, and varieties of mushrooms. It's to early to comment on all the game modes, but in addition to Grand Prix circuits, a variety of engine classes, and the online multiplayer races, there are sure to be several more challenges. You can also expect a colorful variety of kart styles, as seen in our screenshots.Maybe the biggest question i had before playing the game was how the motion-based control would handle sharp corners and twisting courses.i can sum up the answer with a single word- smoothly. As Mr Iwata stated, driving a kart will feel perfectly natural to anyone who has ever used a steering wheel. You hold the Wii remote in both hands with the buttions facing you (and that's how it will fit into the steering-wheel accessory). Then you turn the "wheel" left or right. If you tilt it steeply, you'll make a sharp turn.A gentle dip will ease you to one side.Buttions control acceleration, braking, and item use.I was blown away by the game's elegance (even the sound was great), and there are several months of development yet to go.We'll reveal much more leading up to the launch. -Scott P." You can tell i skipped to the want to know stuff. If you want to read the not want to know stuff you'll have to read Page 31 of Nintendo Power Vol 223.

Immediately accessible and absolutely intuitive, the Wii Zapper is part of the progression started by the Wii Remote, one that continues in 2008 with the Wii Wheel™ and Wii Balance Board™."Our new Wii Zapper interface opens up a huge range of experiences for players and developers," says George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. Up to four players can compete one at a time as they try to best one another's scores." You can read the rest of this from Nintendo's Press Room above.

Nintendo has some Virtual Console news and here is some of it: "Wii™ celebrates its first anniversary today, and big stars from past consoles are coming out to help Nintendo celebrate. Luminaries walking the Virtual Console™ red carpet this week include Mario™ and Luigi™, Sonic The Hedgehog and Zonk. So throw on your best tuxedo or finest gown, and get ready to party with these video game A-listers.Three new classic games go live at 9 a.m. Pacific time. Nintendo adds new games to the Wii™ Shop Channel every Monday. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points™ to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week's new games are: Wrecking Crew™ (NES®, 1-2 players, rated E for Everyone, 500 Wii Points): In the days before Mario and Luigi became sports stars in their downtime between plumbing and saving the Princess, they tried their hands as one-man wrecking crews. With a hammer as their only tool, players take control of the brothers and set out to destroy ladders, rip out pipes, knock down walls and detonate explosive devices. But make sure to plan your path of destruction carefully, as each building is designed as its own clever puzzle—if you're not careful, you can easily trap yourself in a dead end. Adding to the excitement and challenge are fireballs, enemies and an angry foreman roaming the buildings. They're all trying to stop you from moving on to the next stage. With 100 buildings to demolish and the ability to construct your own, it's a wonder Mario and Luigi ever got back to saving the Mushroom Kingdom."
VC News USA:WII-KLY UPDATE: GREATEST GAME EVER ANNOUNCED FOR WII SHOP CHANNEL

Nintendo has some Greatest Virtual Console Week ever so far news and here is some of it: "Eagerly awaiting the arrival of Super Mario Galaxy™ next week? Can't get Mario™ out of your head? You and everybody else! To whet your appetite for all things Mario, Nintendo is offering a special treat on the Virtual Console™ this week. It's not just any game, it's Super Mario Bros. 3™ – considered by many to be the greatest video game of all time (for at least one more week, anyway). It's a must-have title on a week that also features the first Virtual Console import title for Sega Genesis and a fun multiplayer golf game for TurboGrafx16. Today Nintendo adds three new classic games to the popular Wii™ video game system's Wii Shop Channel. The games go live at 9 a.m. Pacific time. Nintendo adds new games to the channel every Monday. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points™ to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased via the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week's new games are: Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES®, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone, 500 Wii Points): Remember when no one had ever heard of a Tanooki Suit or knew that Bowser™ had a clan of Koopalings? The game that made these things common knowledge is also considered by many to be one of the best ever made. Bowser and the Koopalings are causing chaos yet again, but this time they're going beyond the Mushroom Kingdom into the seven worlds that neighbor it. Now Mario and Luigi™ must battle new enemies, returning favorites and a new Koopaling in each unique and distinctive world on their way to ultimately taking on Bowser himself. Luckily for the brothers, they have more power-ups available than ever before. Fly above the action using the Super Leaf, swim faster by donning the Frog Suit or defeat enemies using the Hammer Bros. Suit. Use the brand-new overworld map to take the chance to play a minigame in hopes of gaining extra lives or to find a Toad's House where you can pick up additional items. All this (and more) combines into one of gaming's most well-known and beloved titles—are you ready to experience gaming bliss?"
